Application Deadline: Feb 01, 2017

We are seeking an incoming MFA student interested in pursuing graduate studies with an emphasis on cities and city life. Research may combine historical urban studies with new approaches to urban space and neighbourhood transformation in relationship to creative practice; new narratives of city life; the intersection of media and urban cultures; and urban border studies.

The ideal candidate will have prior interest in contemporary urban culture, urban history, and/or border research. This will be evident in their portfolio and artist statement. However, it is not necessary that all applicants have previous hands-on experience in these areas.

The selected individual will enroll in one of our MFA programs in Visual Arts or Film and Media Arts and work with Drs Michael Darroch and Lee Rodney as Primary Advisors, and as employers.

Successful candidates can expect graduate funding of up to $12,500 in year 01 through a combination of the research assistantship and graduate teaching. If successful, the contract may be renewed in year 02.

In 2017, the School of Creative Arts is moving to new state-of-the-art facilities in downtown Windsor, based in the historic Windsor Armouries building, with easy access to Detroit’s vital cultural institutions and artistic districts.
