Thursday, November 19, 2015 @ 4pm                                                                                          University of Windsor, Lebel Building                                                                               Room 115

Encompassing Art and Bioinsecurity introduces strategic approaches and trajectories of ‘time’ located in diverse contemporary art practices. This lecture will take as its starting point a series of photographs that introspectively and posthumously reflect on post-industrial Britain in 1998 followed by weeds, fallout and light. The talk will then shift to a viewing of a young woman’s carefree attitude in a Super 8 film from the late 1970’s and will end in a short video, preoccupied with present day concerns of self-organization and governance in Taipei. In each instance, the discussion points to the precarious distinction of time-based significance and modulation. The lecture will move between a speculative and associative address towards critical concerns.
